About a year ago, the Lord began to increase the anointing on my life for the prophetic. One night, I received a dream which gave a detailed word for a friend of my father’s. It was out of the ordinary, but since I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit upon waking from the dream, I determined to send it to the man even though I felt very out of place doing it. To make a long story short, he received the word and was blown away by what the Lord revealed, including many personal insights I could not have possibly known (I’ve not spoken to the man in over 10 years). Needless to say I was awakened to the reality that the Lord had opened a door for ministry, and I had a feeling this wouldn’t be the last time he would do this.
As I was walking around the back deck of our house one evening, grilling some delicious marinated chicken and overlooking our serene wooded property, I was pondering this recent experience and what it would mean for me.
Throughout my life, I’ve learned that it doesn’t take much for a move of the Spirit to be quenched by worldly desires or pursuits, and for my heart to get hardened. I’ve spent long enough in the wilderness to know how precious and important it is to guard my heart when it is “soft” and receptive to the Spirit.
Because I knew it may be my destiny one day to be more public in my ministry and that He probably would move even more powerfully through me, I decided to ask the Lord how I would be able to remain humble and not allow the grandiosity of these things to derail me and make me fall into a place of pride.
What I heard immediately in response was “fulfillment”. At first, I was taken aback by that- I wasn’t expecting to hear it. Then through different thought impressions, He expounded on what this meant. He showed me that many people seek fulfillment through what they do, whether it is in the ministry, through their occupation, or what they do for others. They seek external validation for their actions, and this gives them their self-worth.
What he showed me was that if I make HIM my fulfillment, if I come to experience deeply his pure unconditional love and acceptance of me (apart from my works), then this is true freedom.
This is the freeing revelation that will allow you to operate in the way that will be the most powerful for the Lord’s Kingdom. Knowing that he thinks you are AMAZING and delights in you, for YOU. Not for your ministry, not for your job, not for your parenting, not for your success. When you arrive at a deep inner knowing of this fact, I believe it will allow you to step out in faith and obedience at a whole new level. For me, it gave me the confidence to start sending others prophetic words and encouragements, and not be worried at all about their response. Because I knew that even if I fell flat on my face, I was doing it in faith and love for the Lord. And at the end of the day, he still thinks I’m better than sliced bread!
I would encourage you today, let the Lord’s acceptance of you be your daily bread. Allow this to be your source of encouragement, and the fuel that drives you. Let yourself be so filled in Him, that you radiate life and love outwardly to everyone around you in such a great degree that it will be effortless. You will go because he loves you, not so that he will love you.
It’s pretty hard for a cup to overflow out to other thirsty people if your own cup is not filled to the brim. Let his joy be your lifeblood, your north star, your reason for being.
Give it a try- you won’t be disappointed!
May the Lord’s gentle peace and overflowing Presence cover you today. May the Holy Spirit lead you to a place of fulfillment in Him that would shatter your paradigm of what is possible. A new realm of love that will completely remove all hindrances and false beliefs and shortcomings of the past. A new addiction- an addiction to the Eternal One. May his Loving gaze forever be your destination!
Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life.
Then you will be empowered to discover what every holy one experiences—the great magnitude of the astonishing love of Christ in all its dimensions. How deeply intimate and far-reaching is his love! How enduring and inclusive it is! Endless love beyond measurement that transcends our understanding—this extravagant love pours into you until you are filled to overflowing with the fullness of God!
