And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
Luke 2:13-14
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
This peace that is spoken of is a peace that is never changing. It’s a place of being. The reality of a river that is always flowing. Being in the Lord’s presence, being filled with His Peace, means you are PRESENT with him. It means being aware that he is present.
The Lord calls us unto rest with him, to strive to enter this rest (Heb 4:10). What does this mean? Why does the Lord want us to rest in him? I believe that it is a rest in the work that He has already accomplished. It is taking by faith what has already been purchased for us by the Cross of Christ.
Resting in the Lord is trusting in him. Trusting that he has you taken care of. That you aren’t putting your faith in your own works. It is a state of being where you are fully satisfied in Him, because of who He is, not because of anything He is doing for you, or even what you are doing for Him. It is a declaration that everything you are, your purpose for existence, your fulfilment of every need is included in Him.
It is here that you will find Peace, because Peace is not a feeling. Peace is the person of Christ Himself. Stress, worry, guilt, and condemnation all fall away as you bask in the beauty of this joyful and transformational reality. When you have true peace, it is a healing fragrance that flows outwardly to others. It is something that cannot be contained. Life begets life, as it is in nature.
Let the Lord’s stratospheric peace take you to new heights today, for it is in this place of blissful stillness that He would have you stay for eternity.
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 14:27
