Powered from Within

What would it feel like to be completely detached from what people think or say about you? What if you could live your life and not feel deflated every time something bad happens? What would real freedom feel like? What if we could find an unlimited power source on the inside?

I think that God wants us to live like this. What I mean is that we are awakened to the reality of the Kingdom of God that is within us, and with it comes anything we ever could need.

It’s so easy (and natural) to seek external validation, acceptance, worth, wisdom, direction, entertainment, happiness and fulfillment. That’s the way the world works, or so we are told. If you would just buy the nice car, or get the big house, or get the right job title, THEN, you will have achieved something. You will have reached your goal of happiness.

What I think happens is we feel like we can’t be content with ourselves unless we accomplish something that is “worthy” from the eyes of other people. That if I’m successful enough (or at least appear that way), I can buy affection from others, and they’ll have no other choice but to respect and like me.

What if there was a better way?

If you knew you had a million square foot mansion and all the abundance you could ever imagine in heaven, would that change your perspective on what you do here on the earth? Would you feel more confident if you knew you were already highly esteemed by God, and you were even known and respected by those in the heavenly realm as a greatly loved and cherished child of the Most High? Would your priorities change? Would impressing your friends mean that much anymore? Would worrying about what your neighbor thinks about your life choices matter any longer? Would you worry about getting spiritual brownie points, praying more or doing more things at church trying to earn God’s favor, now that you know that you have his favor simply as a result of who you are? Would you now want to spend time to get to know the One who has lavished you with such an incredible undeserved love? Would it then motivate you out of love to share this gift with others without compulsion?

If you knew you could tap into this internal unending stream of love, peace and joy, would you even worry about having to externally rush to “do” exotic things to entertain yourself? Or would you find an inner ecstasy that would allow you to bask in bliss in any circumstance or location you found yourself in? If there was unlimited knowledge, wisdom and instruction available to you from the gentle guiding voice of the Holy Spirit, would you stress out about finding the perfect earthly advice anymore? Or would this allow you to fall into depths of comfort and joy that you’ve never experienced, because you know you are taken care of, and He cares enough to guide you and to show you things to come?

What if this heavenly power source- the one inside you- was VASTLY superior to anything you can find in the world? Would it be worth your time to find it?

How would your life change? How would YOU change? Only you can answer this question- but the door remains open before us as the words of our Lord and Savior beckon us to find the Kingdom which is closer to us than the air we breathe.

Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
