Blessed are the Peacemakers

And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

James 3:18 (ESV)

Do you know what it takes to be a peacemaker? Many times, when we hear this word it evokes images in our mind of someone settling disputes between people. But what does it really mean? Did you know we have the capacity to actually make peace?

Peace is created when we allow God’s Spirit (who lives inside us) to infuse the atmosphere around us. His Presence brings peace because he is Peace. His Peace governs all that it encounters.

It is not simply quietness, or the absence of activity. True Peace is the presence of the One who holds all things together by the power of His Word. It can be cultivated by meditating and creating an ongoing awareness of this abiding Presence within.

A peacemaker is one who opens the door to allow the Spirit to work in all circumstances, restructuring our world to look like His world. Our Master’s prayer from the beginning has been “On Earth as it is in heaven”.

Don’t worry about using your own power to try and sort out your personal situations and add peace to them. Your own intellect and might isn’t enough. The vibration of His voice is all that is needed- it brings His creation into alignment with His original intention.

All we must do is allow his voice and his love to transform us, by an infusing acceptance of his continual delight in us. As we are invigorated by gazing upon him, we will radiate His frequency of loving peace to others. And this is how others will know Him- they will know us by our love.

Father, today I yield to your peace. Let it surround me, my family, my workplace, and everywhere and everyone in my sphere of influence. Please help me to abide in this place-in you- as this is true life, and the only reality that matters. Amen.
