Abiding in the Vine

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

John 15:5 (ESV)

What if accomplishing our destinies was as simple as abiding in Jesus? If we can’t do anything apart from him, why are we toiling so hard to bear fruit on our own?

What if our focus has been in the wrong place? What if we have been working so hard to please God and fulfill our calling, that we missed the entire point?

I want to encourage you today to make Him your focus. Rest in him. Allow his pleasure of you to overtake you like a warm blanket. Take off the weight and stress of trying to grind it out on your own. You don’t need it anymore- you were never supposed to carry it in the first place.

When you make this your new way of life, the fruit will come in greater measure and from places you never even dreamed was possible.
